Tamkang University’s commitment to Total Quality Management is well recognized nationwide in Taiwan. Since Dr. Clement C. P. Chang, founder of Tamkang, incorporated the concept of TQM into the university in 1993, there have been significant improvements in Tamkang’s quality performance. For the annual TQM Conference this year, Tamkang has invited Chancellor Charles W. Sorensen, and Dr. Julie A. Furst-Bowe, Assistant Chancellor of Assessment and Continuous Improvement from the University of Wisconsin-Stout to share with Tamkang’s faculty and staff their valuable experience in receiving this prestigious award. University of Wisconsin-Stout is the first recipient of the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award in higher education. In addition to the annual TQM Conference, Tamkang is also holding the Conference on Total Quality Improvement in Higher Education on Wednesday, March 24th, 2004. In this conference, Chancellor Sorensen, Dr. Furst-Bowe, along with Taiwanese scholars from local universities will share their experiences in the pursuit of quality improvement in higher education.
