Dr. Bryan Gould and Mrs. Gill Gould, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Waikato, New Zealand, arrived on June 2, 1999, to make a good-will visit to his sister university, Tamkang University. Coming along with Vice-Chancellor Dr. and Mrs. Gould were Dr. Peter Oettli, Pro-Vice-Chancellor; Dr. Lin Min, Chairperson of the East Asian Studies Department; Ms. Lynette Muter, Manager of the International Center; and Mr. Calum MacKachnie, Manager of the Language Institute. Accompanied by Dr. Chao-kang Feng, Vice President for Academic Affairs and Chairman of International Exchange Committee, and Deans of colleges, Vice Chancellor Dr. and Mrs. Gould and other five guests attended a briefing presided over by President Horng-jinh Chang and also engaged in a discussion with TKU faculty and staff. Then they toured Tamkang University Tamsui campus, including the Chueh-sheng Memorial Library, the Information Processing Center, and the Maritime Museum. At noon, they attended the luncheon hosted by President Horng-jinh Chang. It was Vice-Chancellor Bryan Gould first visit to Taiwan. The University of Waikato is the only one sister university in New Zealand currently having established academic cooperation with Tamkang University.
