" Dr. Cornelius M. Kerwin, President of American University, made a goodwill visit to Tamkang University on April 8, 2009. American University, founded in 1893 in Washington D.C., is a private university, with a student enrollment of 12,000 (8,400 undergraduate and 3,700 graduate students), including more than 1,000 international students from 140 countries all over the world. The student-faculty ration is 14:1. AU is ranked 83rd among ""national universities"" by US News & World Report's college and university rankings guide. School of International Services, American University and College of International Studies, Tamkang University have been organized international conferences by turns and closely cooperated with each other since 2006. The 4th annual conference was held at American University on February 5, 2006, which the theme was “Security Relations in a Changing World: Perspectives from Tamkang University and American University”. American University signed the academic cooperation agreement with Tamkang University on December 14, 2007. Mr. Mark Hayes, Associate Director, AU Abroad-Abroad at AU, American University, visited TKU on February 26, 2008. Dr. Wan-chin Tai, Vice President for International Affairs, Tamkang University also visited AU in May 2008 during 2008 NAFSA annual conference period; and had a breakfast with President kerwin, it enhanced the cooperation and relationship between AU and TKU. From 2009, they are going to exchange the students between the two universities. The guests first attended the reception and a discussion hosted by Dr. Flora C.I. Chang, President. After the discussion, they visited Carrie Chang Fine Art Center, Maritime Museum and Chueh-sheng Memorial Library. At night, they attended the dinner hosted by President Chang at Chueh-Sheng International Conference Hall. "
