Dr. Marc Gontard, President, University of Rennes 2-Haute Bretagne, France, made a goodwill visit to Tamkang University (TKU) on April 9, 2008. The University of Rennes 2-Haute Bretagne, Heir to the Faculty of Arts established in Rennes in 1810, is the most important research centre and higher education community for humanities and social sciences in western France. The university counts just under 20,000 students enrolled in initial or lifelong education in five facultues: Sport; Arts, Literatures and Communication; Modern Languages; Humanities and Social Sciences. Open to the world the, university of Rennes 2 with 21 foreign languages taught, keeps developing partnerships with numerous higher education and research centres over the five continents; 10% of its students and young researchers come from foreign countries. The guests first attended the presentation hosted by Dr. Wan-chin Tai, Vice President for International Affairs at T 306. After the presentation, they visited Carrie Chang Fine Arts Center, and attended a discussion with faculty and students from Department of French.
