Dr. Michele L. Petrucci, Director of the Office of International Affairs, Indiana University of Pennsylvania, made a goodwill visit to Tamkang University (TKU) on October 29, 2007. Indiana University of Pennsylvania, founded in 1875, has a long tradition of academic excellence. IUP achieved university status in 1965, after which enrollment continued to grow rapidly. IUP provides an intellectually challenging experience to more than 14,000 students at the university's three campuses, all easily accessible from Pittsburgh and the Middle Atlantic region. Academic offerings include more than 120 undergraduate majors with a variety of internship and study-abroad programs, more than 40 master's degree programs, and eight programs leading to the doctoral degree. Indiana University of Pennsylvania signed the academic cooperation agreement with Tamkang University on November 7, 2000. The English Department of Tamkang University has started to send “Junior Study Abroad” students to IUP since the academic year of 2001-02. Also, the two universities has started exchange program from the academic year of 2006-07. The purpose of their visit this time is to discuss the issues regarding Dual Degree Program and Junior Study Abroad Program for English Department, International Trade Department, and Lanyang Campus. The guests first attended the presentation hosted by the Office of International Exchanges & Education. After the presentation, they visited Carrie Chang Fine Arts Center and Chueh-sheng Memorial Library. At noon, they attended the luncheon hosted by Vice President Tai at Hampton House. In the afternoon, the guests attended the meeting with Dr. Lily Chen, Director of Office of International Exchanges & Education, and a discussion with the Junior Study Abroad students who are returning from IUP. On October 30, the guests visited Lanyang Campus, and attended the discussion with Dr. Ay-Hwa Liou, Dean of the college of Entrepreneuial, and students.
