Ms. Maria del Carmen Terriente de Benavides, Vice President of University of Panama, one of the sister universities of TKU in Panama, accompanied by Mr. Efrain Medina, H.E. Amb Julio Mock, Mr. Marti Chang, and Ms. Melissa Tseng, made a goodwill visit to Tamkang University on November 19, 2007. University of Panama was founded in 1935. She signed the contract and became the sister university of TKU on April 17, 2006. In 2006, TKU sent the first student Luo Chien-chia to University of Panama. Luo Chien-chia was a student from Department of Spanish & supported by the “Scholarship of Panama.” The distinguished guests first attended a briefing presided over by Dr. Kan-Nan Chen, Vice President for Academic Affairs, and also engaged in a discussion with Dr. Kung, Kwo-wei, Chair of the Department of Spanish, Dr. Chen, Hsiao-chuan, Chair of the Graduate Institute of Latin American Studies and TKU faculty, to explore the further possibilities of academic exchange between two institutions.
