Dr. C.D. Mote Jr. President of the University of Maryland, arrived on October 6, 1999, to make a good-will visit to Tamkang University. Coming along with President Mote was Dr. Tim Brown. At first, Mote and Dr. Tim met with President Horng-jinh Chang, and then they were invited to a formal lunch party hosted by Dr. Clement Chang. After the luncheon, they attended a briefing presided over by President Horng-jinh Chang and later engaged in a lively discussion with TKU faculty. They also toured TKU Tamsui campus, including the Chueh-sheng Memorial Library, Education Development Center, the Information Processing Center, and the Maritime Museum.
