Prof. Georg Winckler, President of University of Vienna, made a goodwill visit to Tamkang University (TKU) on February 15, 2006. The University of Vienna was founded by Duke Rudolf IV in 1365 being modeled after the universities of Bologna and Paris. The University of Vienna is the oldest university in the German-speaking world and one of the largest universities of Central Europe. The University of Vienna has 15 faculties. The total student enrollment is 65,000, including about 10,000 foreign students from over 130 countries. The distinguished guest first attended a briefing presided over by President Dr. Flora Chang, and also engaged in a discussion with TKU faculty and Deans of Colleges. After the discussion, they visited Maritime Museum, Carrie Chang Fine Arts Center, and Chueh-sheng Memorial Library. At noon, they attended the luncheon hosted by Dr. Chao-kang Feng, Vice President for Academic Affairs at Chueh-sheng International Conference Hall.
