Dr. Hai-Lung Dai ( Dean and Laura H. Carnell Professor), Dr. Olga Vilceanu (Director of International Programs and Career Services )and Ms. Brook Walker (Director of Development and Alumni Affairs ), College of Science and Technology, Temple University, made a goodwill visit to Tamkang University on March 14, 2008. Temple University was founded in 1884 by Dr. Russell Conwell. As a comprehensive public research university, our 34,000 students can choose from 8 campuses and 300 academic degree programs, including 125 bachelors programs, 113 master programs, and 52 doctoral programs. The academic cooperation agreement draft and dual-degree cooperation agreement between the two universities have been approved by TKU. During their visit at TKU this time, the three distinguished guests focused on the promotion of the dual degree cooperation program (3-year of study at TKU, 2-year of study at Temple University, receiving bachelor degree from TKU and master degree from Temple University), hoping more TKU students will go to Temple University for this dual degree program. The guests first attended the reception and a discussion hosted by Vice President for International Affairs, Dr. Wan-chin Tai. At the discussion, the three representatives explained the dual degree cooperation program to TKU associates and students. There were many students attended this meeting. We believe the dual degree cooperation program will not only provide more choices to study abroad, but also enhance the international competitiveness for TKU students.
